Worst blogger ever!!!

Posted Wednesday 12/30/09

So it has been a couple months since the last posting which may make me the worst blogger ever. We have been soooooo busy with thanksgiving, christmas, and showers for Jaxon. It is such an exciting time. I am 37 weeks pregnant today and things have been going great. I had a little scare at the doctor today though. My blood pressure is higher than normal so they put Jaxon on a monitor and we did a sono to make sure he was doing ok. The doctor said if he did not respond well to the contractions I was having then they would induce today. Luckily he did great (thank you GOD) BUT, they are still concerned about my BP so I am doing a couple tests that will let them know if I am preeclampsic. I asked what the treatment was for preeclampsia and the doctor said delivery. I DO NOT want to be induced so please pray that all these tests come back normal and Jaxon can come when he is good and ready. Jason starts the fire academy in February and he is loving volunteering for Buda Fire department. He and I have both worked very hard to get the house ready for our big boy which is one reason that these postings have gone by the way side. You can see a couple pics below of early morning swollen feet which is nothing compared to the end of the day, my big belly and some shots of Jaxons nursery. I hope this posting finds everyone well as we move into the new year!!!

LOTS TO UPDATE!!!

I hope the time change and extra hour of sleep this weekend has everyone in good spirits. Well, there is lots to say this time around. First, my father was admitted to the hospital on Friday after being diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. This is a blockage of the main artery of the lung or one of its branches by a blood clot that has travelled from elsewhere in the body through the bloodstream. Basically, he travels all the time for his job and being in one position for too long can create blood clots. He has a blood clot in his leg that broke away, traveled up through his heart and to his lungs. He is in good spirits and doing very well. The doctors are giving shots of blood thinner to help with the clotting and he should hopefully be out of the hospital in the next couple days. Please keep him and my family in your prayers. Praise God they found it before any major harm was done. We spent the weekend in Corpus visiting my dad and family. My aunt was recently diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. She is doing great and keeping up with her hilarious sense of humor. She has lots of healing and treatment ahead so please keep her in your prayers as well.
On a lighter note we finally got to see one of Riley's (my neice) soccer games. She did great and she was so cute. Here is a great video I just happened to catch as she scored a goal.

We were also able to go trick or treating with Riley. She was the sweetest little light up pumpkin I've ever seen. Here she is visiting Pops in the hospital showing off her costume.

Also, we started the nursery for Jaxon last weekend. We painted his walls a light grey and we are going to highlight the walls with splashes of color and pictures. I have a vision and I think it is really going to come out perfect. Very different than a normal nursery but Jaxon is a hip kid. I mean look who his mom is. HEHE! Here are some pictures showing the labor of love.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Here is an updated belly picture. We are now a little over 7 months along now. We go to the doctor this thursday.

Jaxon in 4D!!!

Here are some pics of Jaxon from our 4D sonogram. It is soooo surreal to see him. I can't believe how amazing it is to see a human life that is inside of you. Kind of freaky but by far the coolest thing I have ever experienced. He cooperated for the most part but he had his stubborn moments. We know for sure that he is a BOY!

Buda MUD Fest???

So...Buda fire fest was this weekend and it turned out to be more like a mud fest. It started raining saturday morning during the fire fighter physical challenge and it didn't seem to let up all day. Despite the weather creating wet and difficult conditions, Jason competed and did a really wonderful job. I was so proud of him. Here are a few pictures and a video of his awesome challenge. He finished in 1 min 47 sec.

6 month Bump
(24 Weeks 2 days)

Oh what a feelin!!!

Posted Wednesday 9/30/09

WE ARE 6 MONTHS PREGNANT!!!! Holy crow I can't believe it. Jaxon has been moving like crazy and oh what a feelin it is. According to my prego books he weighs a little over a pound so I know from now on he will be packing a pretty good punch. As a matter of fact Jason was finally able to feel his little movements last night while we were laying in bed. He was so excited he even got up this morning talking about it. Jason felt 2 big kicks last night and you should have seen his face light up. I am so blessed to have a husband who gets excited about everything in our pregnancy. At our last appointment I was measuring great and Jaxon's heart beat was strong. Overall things are right on track. We have scheduled a 3D/4D ultrasound for October 14 so it will be interesting to see who he might look like.

Update on Jason: He has become really involved in the Buda fire department recently. He is now a volunteer fire fighter with Buda and has joined the Buda competition fire team. What does this mean you ask? Well, we are having Fire Fest in Buda this weekend and Jason is a part of a competition team with career fire fighters who compete in the fire fighter physical challenge against other cities. From what I have heard Jason is one of the best on the team and has really been impressing the other fire fighters. There could be a great opportunity for him in the next 6 months as he has decided he would like to pursue becoming part of the fire department through cadet school that is supposed to start in February. He has been making friends and a name for himself and I am very proud of him. If anyone is interested in coming to our small town for a big time, we will be out in Buda city park all weekend. There is nothing like a small town festival to make you appreciate your town. Saturday Jason will be competing if anyone wants to come watch.

Please keep us in your prayers as we embark on a new season of life both with a baby and an opportunity with Buda fire department. We just pray that God opens the door for Jason and pushes him straight through it. Also we pray for fulfillment and peace as Jason follows his dreams! I am sooo proud of you Jason. I love you!!!

I will be posting a new belly picture tonight!!!

Over half way

It is so hard to believe that we are over half way through the pregnancy. It feels like we just found out. It seems like he will be here sooner than I can take a breath. We still don't have a middle name but we have picked out paint color, fabric and furniture color for the bedroom. The nursery will not look like a baby room except for the crib which is exactly what we want. We hope to keep it modern and simple...making it easier to transition into a big boy room. Im trying to think ahead because he is growing so fast in my belly, I cant imagine how fast he will grow out of it (AHHH). I will be 21 weeks tomorrow and I am starting to feel little hints of movement. Of course as a first time mom I have no idea what its supposed to feel like so it could be anything from gas to just plain hunger! I am so excited to be is the next stage where not only I can feel it but Jason can too. He just lights up when I talk about it. He is definately a proud papa bear.
I posted sonograms picture on a previous post so if you haven't had a chance to look, just scroll on down.

NEW CAR

Posted 9/8/09

Yeah we got a new car FINALLY! It took lots of patience and prayer but we found a vehicle that we can grow into....and by we I mean me and my belly!!! We are so excited to have a car that will hopefully be perfect for parenthood. Jason is still trying to sell his motorcycle so we will keep praying for something to work out. Over all we are very pleased with our new (used) purchase!

ITS A BOY!!!!!

Jason and I are pleased to announce that we are having a baby Boy!!! His name will be Jaxon. We are still working on the middle name. We will be 19 weeks on wednesday and it is so hard to believe we are almost half way there. Jaxon is doing well and his 18 week sonogram measurements were great. His heart rate was 156 BPM. WE LOVE HIM SOOO MUCH!!! Well it's off to Home Depot to look at paint swatches for the nursery.

16 weeks and Counting!!!

I can hardly believe that we are going to find out if the baby is a boy or girl in less than 2 weeks. It seems like the time is flying by. My mom and sister are planning on coming for the ultrasound so I am really excited to have my family be such a big part of this time in our lives. I am soooooooo ready to start thinking about nursery decor and of course finalizing baby names. It won't be an "IT" anymore.

As for my body, well I'm still in my regular clothes but they are getting more and more uncomfortable. I am in the in between stage where just feeling fat is a daily norm. Luckily I wear scrubs 4 days a weeks. I don't really have a huge bump as you can see from the picture but I know eventually its bound to happen. I mean its a "Cook baby", and you all know Jason is GINORMOUS!

We are still looking for a car. Haven't found one that is quite right yet. We want to make a smart decision because this will be our family car for who knows how long. So its been a slow and unpleasant process to say the least. Please keep us in your prayers that we find the right ONE!

Overall, things are going splendidly and Jason is doing very well falling into the role of expectant father. He is very good to me. Look for the baby sex update in a couple weeks. We go to the doctor August 19th.

Congrats to Scott and Kayla on your new house. Cant wait to come and see it. Love y'all. I will be posting ultrasound pictures from the entire pregnancy up to this point as soon as I can get to a scanner.

WE SOLD IT!!!

7/21/2009

Posted Tuesday 7/21/09

UPDATE!!!!! We sold the truck on Friday. Thank you for your prayers because it didn't take long. Now we just have to find a vehicle that is going to work for my growing belly and our growing family. You all know Jason and how hard that must have been for him so I ask you for a moment of silence (imagine a sad trumpet song in background). HAHA if you want to send your condolences you can write a comment on this post and I'm sure he would appreciate them.

PS Happy Birthday Kyle Zickefoose (miss you big brother)

Going Public

7/17/2009

Posted Friday 7/17/09
So we have pretty much gone public that Jason and I are prego. If you didn't know and you are just reading this for the first time then scroll down and read the previous posting.
Other news: Jason and I have decided that the best thing for us is to sell our truck and probably Jasons motorcycle to get something a little more practical. Its true what they say, a baby changes everything. Jason has been so selfless in the impending transtition of bringing a baby home. I am so blessed to have him care so much about the well being of a life that isn't even here yet. I know it is silly but please keep us in your prayers as we move foward to sell our truck. Pray something works out!!! Hope all is well and stay tuned for more baby updates!

Jumping on the Bandwagon

7/10/2009

Posted Friday 7/10/09
Since Jason and I are not members to the crazy world of social sites I thought I would jump on the blogging bandwagon. This will keep anyone who is interested updated on our ever changing lives.

There has been lots of changes. As most of you know we got married about a year and a half ago on January 19, 2008. We bought a house on a cute little cul de sac that we love and have some really wonderful neighbors.

What some of you may not know is that Jason and I experienced what I think was the greatest test our marriage has faced. He and I found out that we were pregnant with our first baby which ended in a miscarriage in mid March 2009. Although our hearts were broken we remained faithful and prayerful that God had something better planned for us. I believe in my heart that I will meet the baby I lost in heaven and that Gods plan is mighty and unquestionably in my best interest.

THE GOOD NEWS: It didn't take the fertile myrtle family long to conceive a second time. 6 weeks after we miscarried...BAM!!! We are now 12 weeks into our 2nd pregnancy and couldn't be more excited. This is the fuel to blogging fire. I don't see my family and friends as often as I would like so I will be posting updates and growing bump pictures.

12 Week Baby Bump (not much to show YET)
Our due date is January 20, 2010!
